Isaiah 49:17-23

17 “Your ^{▼▼ So ancient versions and DSS; M.T. reads sons}builders hurry;
Your ^bdestroyers and devastators
Will depart from you.
18 ^c“Lift up your eyes and look around;
^dAll of them gather together, ^ethey come to you.
^fAs I live,” declares the Lord,
“You will surely ^gput on all of them as ^{▼▼ Lit an ornament}jewels and bind them on as a bride.
19 “For ⁱyour waste and desolate places and your destroyed land—
Surely now you will be ^jtoo cramped for the inhabitants,
And those who ^kswallowed you will be far away.
20 “The ^lchildren of ^{▼▼ Lit your bereavement}whom you were bereaved will yet say in your ears,
‘The place is too cramped for me;
Make room for me that I may live here.’
21 “Then you will ⁿsay in your heart,
‘Who has begotten these for me,
Since I have been bereaved of my children
And am ^obarren, an ^pexile and a wanderer?
And who has reared these?
Behold, I was ^qleft alone;
^{▼▼ Lit These, where are they?
,} ^sFrom where did these come?’”

22 Thus says the Lord ^{▼▼ Heb YHWH, usually rendered Lord}God, “Behold, I will lift up My hand to the nations
And set up My ^ustandard to the peoples;
And they will ^vbring your sons in their bosom,
And your daughters will be carried on their shoulders.
23 ^w“Kings will be your guardians,
And their princesses your nurses.
They will ^xbow down to you with their faces to the earth
And ^ylick the dust of your feet;
And you will ^zknow that I am the Lord;
Those who hopefully ^aawait for Me will ^abnot be put to shame.
